- Application:A counter stiffener is placed between the shoe's lining and the upper material in the heel area.
- Activation:Heat, often from a heat gun is applied to the counter stiffener through the shoe's materials.
- Molding:The heat makes the stiffener pliable allowing it to be molded to the specific contours of the shoe and the foot.
